I may not be the biggest fan of bakeries, but La Chicanita Bakery gets the official Mr Beautiful stamp of approval. It's a small Mexican style bakery that offers pastries, cakes, cookies, and other desserts. I've only been there a few times and every time I go back I forget how inexpensive their pastries are until the cashier tells me how much my giant brown grocery bag full of pastries costs. That's right, a giant brown grocery bag full of delicious baked goods. And you know how much that giant brown bag full of goodies usually costs me? About $5--awesome! DIABETES, HERE I COME! The set up is simple: walk in, grab a tray & tongs, and take your pick of the baked goodies in their cases. I'm not good with names, so of course, I don't know what anything is called in there. Just do what I do, take one of each! Wait, I lied about not knowing what anything is called--they have pastel de tres leches and flan. I've had their pastel de tres leches, which I must say is pretty damn good. I've been told that their flan is also pretty damn good--I haven't tried it yet, but I've seen the flan in the refrigerated case and they're HUGE. I'll have to remember to pick some up the next time I go back. Like I said before, La Chicanita Bakery earns the official Mr Beautiful stamp of approval for offering delicious baked goodies & other desserts at great prices, but first I have to clean off my stamp--there are crumbs all over it from all the yummy pastries that were in my giant brown grocery bag! Holla!!!â„¢
